8 Unique things to do in London
After spending a few years in London and finding the love of my life there, this city holds a very special place in my heart. I was lucky enough to fully immerse myself in English culture. London is vibrant, unpredictable, and always full of surprises. As a big fan of English pop culture, I often enjoyed exploring its hidden corners, venturing off the beaten path.
It's the perfect city for the end of the year, whether for Halloween or the holiday season.
1. Visit the Museum of Home
Price: Free
A hidden gem, the Museum of Home immerses you in London's history through recreated interiors from different eras and locations. Truly original and a refreshing change of scenery.
2. Stroll around Richmond (the setting of Ted Lasso)
Price: Free
For pop culture fans (like me, you know!) and especially lovers of the series Ted Lasso, Richmond is a must. This charming west London neighborhood is romantic and peaceful, with beautiful walks along the Thames. You can even find the street where Ted lives and stop by the series' pub, The Prince's Head. And if you haven't seen the show yet, I highly recommend it!
3. Take a Jack the Ripper Tour
Price: Around £20
London also has its dark side… and what better way to explore it than following in Jack the Ripper's footsteps? In the alleys of Whitechapel, passionate guides tell the terrifying story of this man who left a permanent mark on the city. Best done in the evening for a few chills, especially around Halloween.
4. Explore Old Spitalfields Market
Price: Free (if you don't buy anything)
Located near Shoreditch, this covered market is one of London's trendiest spots. You'll find everything from international street food to indie designers, vintage treasures, and quirky finds. It's perfect for hunting a unique piece or simply soaking up London's cultural diversity. Personally, I found the prices a bit high.
5. Step into the crazy world of Cyberdog in Camden
Price: Free (if you don't buy anything)
Camden is a must-visit for anyone coming to London, and among its eccentric shops, Cyberdog is arguably the most iconic. Between techno music, robotic mannequins, and neon lights, it feels like stepping into another world. Is it original? Yes and no, everyone goes to Camden but Cyberdog is definitely worth a visit if you're in the area.
6. Play Monopoly Lifesize
Price: From £54 per person
Love Monopoly? Now imagine playing on a life-sized board! With Monopoly Lifesize, you and your friends (minimum 4 people) become the human game pieces and complete challenges to buy the most famous streets of London. A fun and unusual experience, perfect for families or friends.
7. The Live Escape Room Game – ClueQuest
Price: From £30 per person
Escape game enthusiasts, this is one of the best spots in London: ClueQuest. The setting is inspired by espionage and team-based puzzle-solving. Good news: you don't need to be fluent in English to enjoy it. The experience is accessible even if your English isn't perfect.
8. Sherlock: The Official Live Game
Price: From £30 per person
If you're a fan of the Sherlock series, this experience is for you. More than just an escape game, it's a fully immersive adventure where you solve investigations as a team, guided by exclusive videos from Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman. You might even share a cup of tea along the way.
